HHC Volunteers “Untag” the Graffiti in Makakilo HHC founder/president, Mike Gabbard, and a team of volunteers recently got rid of graffiti “eyesores” in the vicinity of Palailai St. and Makakilo Drive on December 31, 2005.
If the taggers come back, we’ll be right behind them to once again wipe out the graffiti.” Makakilo residents were very appreciative of HHC’s efforts. Many people driving by waved and yelled, “mahalos”, while the volunteers did the job. It was quite a challenge to find the right paint that would match the wall. HCC tried a couple of different options before settling on a paint that blended in quite well. West
Oahu Current printed two follow-up articles in their January 11th
and January 25th editions, which tell the story of our graffiti busting.
